More than 400 artificial intelligence experts gathered to discuss how AI technology is changing human society at the Artificial Intelligence Summit Forum in Wuxi, Jiangsu province on Sept 12.

A diverse crowd of academics, researchers and entrepreneurs from China and abroad gave a range of different views on where AI is heading at the meeting, which was held as part of the 2017 World Internet of Things Exposition.

According to Chai Tianyou, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, artificial intelligence will not be a magic solution for the development of industries such as intelligent manufacturing.

AI would perform better than humans in doing specific tasks, but it is not omnipotent and ultimately it is the human being who programs the machine, Chai pointed out.
