Piles of packages are being automatically conveyed to targeted collection bags for different regions at a sorting center in Wuxi, Jiangsu province.

It is the intelligent parcel sorting system made by Wuxi-based Wayz Intelligent Manufacturing Co that enables such an almost workerless environment.

Li Gongyan, president of Wayz, said that their research team has mastered the eight core technologies of automatic sorting equipment, the only one of its kind in the world.

The eight technologies include barcode scanning, industrial wireless communication, motor drive, electric control, software management, logistics big data analysis, remote diagnosis for equipment and parcel video tracing.

The smart system's conveyor is equipped with an automatic barcode scanning system, which can scan the barcode on the parcel at any height and angle within one meter and pass the information on the code to conveyor, and then the conveyor would deliver the parcel to the corresponding collection bag, according to Li.

Such a system, which can run without interruption in 24 hours, triples the amount of parcels by manual sorting.

With the help of the sorting system, workers at sorting centers just need to put parcels onto the system's conveyor.

The sorting center of ZTO Express, China's leading express delivery company, in Wuxi is capable of sorting out 36,000 parcels in an hour after introducing Wayz's parcel sorting system.

The company's two double-layer automatic parcel sorting systems make ZTO's sorting center in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China's largest automatic sorting center for express parcels, enabling them to deal with 144,000 parcels per hour.

Li believes that urgent industrial demand drives them to make technological innovation.

During last year's Double Eleven, the largest online shopping festival in China on November 11, Wayz's smart sorting systems help its logistics clients sort out their parcels in order, free from an explosive storage warehouse.

At present, nearly all the leading express companies in China are Wayz's clients, such as ZTO, STO, Best, YUNDA and SF.

With an annual output of more than 600 million yuan ($94.2 million), Wayz occupies 50 to 60% of automatic parcel sorting system's market share in China.

To manufacture world-class equipment for logistics industry and expand products made in China to the world is the top goal of the Chinese firm.

Li said that this year, the company is expected to enter the international market by cooperating with postal service providers in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.
