Overview of 2018 World Internet of Things Exposition (WIOT)
The 2018 World Internet of Things Expo (WIOT) will take place in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, from Sept 15 to Sept 18.
Wuxi is a renowned national demonstration zone for sensor network innovation.
The expo is jointly hosted by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Ministry of Science and Technology as well as the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government.
The WIOT this year will be bigger and more high-profile than ever before. Over 500 companies are due to attend the 2018 WIOT, 30 of which are Fortune 500 companies, including the Chinese giants Alibaba and Huawei, who specialize in e-commerce and telecommunications respectively.
More authoritative institutions and professional organizations will be part of this year's event, such as Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Institute of Electronics and China Computer Federation.
The event will include one main summit, one IoT application and production exhibition, 10 high-end forums and 16 other activities.
Covering an area of 50,000 square meters, the expo will stage five themed exhibitions featuring the latest cutting-edge IoT technology, including a communication and platform support system exhibition, a smart manufacturing and sensor thematic exhibition, a smart life exhibition, a smart transportation and Internet of Vehicles exhibition and a smart city exhibition.
"Wu Xiao Lian", the mascot of this year's World Internet of Things Expo, is a cute robot in blue and white and will serve as a "waiter" to introduce new technologies, products and smart models during the exhibitions.
