The Institute of Depth-Sensing Technology settled on Nov 13 in Wuxi Hi-tech district, in a joint project between Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute and the city.

The Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute is an "experimental field" for the deepening of scientific and technological system reforms in Jiangsu province and a "propeller" for industrial technology upgrading.

The institute consists of a professional research institute and an industrial technology innovation center. As its core, the professional research institute gathers together a group of domestic and foreign leading talents and first-class team, and has established a new model for operation and management.

Led by Yue Yutao, PhD, a scientist from the former Shenzhen Kuangchi Group, the Institute of Depth-Sensing Technology will build high-level research and development (R&D) laboratories in the fields of sensor chip design, radar sensing and visual perception in the next five years. It will actively introduce leading talents to promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

Huang Qin, acting mayor of Wuxi, said the Institute of Depth-Sensing Technology will have favorable conditions for development in Wuxi, which is a national demonstration zone for sensor network innovation. The government will vigorously support the construction of the institute.

Huang hopes the Institute of Depth-Sensing Technology will continue to intensify its effort in institutional mechanism innovation and speed up R&D in key technologies, thereby promoting the transformation of results in the city.
