Six science and technology projects originated by Wuxi enterprises won National Science and Technology Awards in Beijing on Jan 8.

With one winning the second prize of the National Technological Invention Awards and five achieving the second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, Wuxi stood out among cities of the same type around the nation.

Thanks to the rapid development of the internet of things (IoT) industry in Wuxi, the projects named "urban multi-mode public transport network collaborative design and intelligent service" and "key technologies and applications of cooperative sensing and linkage control for large-scale road network traffic" were listed as winners of the second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards.

The two projects provide solutions to lack of coordination and inefficiency in the current urban public transport system, and have been applied in cities in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC) of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, located in Wuxi city, took part in a project of innovation and application of conservation technology in the mouth of the Yangtze River, which also won a second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards.

In 2018, Wuxi released a series of policies to promote science and technology innovation in enterprises, and national and provincial research institutes in Wuxi enjoy tailored preferential policies.
