Chinese home appliance giant Haier Group formed partnerships with three enterprises in Jiangsu province during a conference held on Sept 7 in Wuxi, aimed at building a new industrial ecosystem to better serve businesses and industries in Jiangsu province.

The enterprises include China Unicom IoT Co, the internet of things branch of the country’s major telecom carrier China Unicom, and MaxTropy, a cloud-based industrial equipment interconnection platform service provider.

The cooperation, achieved during the 2019 World Internet of Things Expo, aims at promoting industrial transformation in Jiangsu with the help of Haier’s self-developed industrial network platform COSMOPlat.

COSMOPlat is a large-scale customization platform that leads smart manufacturing around the world. It allows users to engage in every step from design to sales, and its seven modes of user customization, targeted marketing, open design, modularized procurement, smart manufacturing, smart logistics and smart service are landmark innovations for the industrial internet.

The platform meets the verified needs of individual customers, enterprises and developers, offering solutions for various industries including home-appliances, agriculture, machinery, chemistry and smart city development.

This is significant for the industrial transformation of Jiangsu, the country's largest manufacturing province. The manufacturing industry is also a driving force of the province’s economy.

Haier set up an internet of things eco-network base in the National High-tech District in Wuxi in May 2018, which focuses on the upgrading of manufacturing using IoT technologies, especially the clothing industry, one of the city’s traditional strengths.

The platform has also been well-received by consumers in 20 different countries. According to Haier, it now leads the development of three international standards for large-scale customization and other areas.

In 2018, an interconnected factory built with the help of the COSMOPlat platform earned Haier the title of a "lighthouse" in the development of advanced manufacturing and production at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of New Champions, or Summer Davos Forum.
