The 2020 Huihaiwan Internet of Things Conference was held in Huihaiwan Town in Wuxi National Hi-tech District on Sept 8.

The event included one conference, one summit forum and a series of activities held online in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 121 projects worth 13.53 billion yuan ($1.98 billion) were displayed at the opening ceremony, 50 of which were signed on site. They focused on internet of things (IoT), integrated circuits (IC), software information, big data and artificial intelligence (AI), life and health and talent funds.

Sunred Electronic Equipment Co, a Qingdao-based semiconductor company, will move its headquarters to WND for better development. "WND owns a developed industrial ecosystem integrating our quality clients, top industrial talents and a complete industrial chain," said the company's chairman, Song Lilu.

In 2019, the total revenue of the IoT industry in WND surged 16 percent year-on-year to exceed 180 billion yuan, accounting for over 60 percent of the city's total. WND is now home to 1,300 enterprises and 60,000 professionals striving to turn the district into a highland for China's IoT industry.

As the highland for developing the IoT industry in Wuxi, WND started the construction of Huihaiwan IoT town in 2017 with the support of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and the Jiangsu provincial people's government. It has introduced 650 technology enterprises and 46 IoT industrial projects to WND, according to WND Director Feng Xiaochun.

During the opening ceremony, WND also established a long-term cooperation mechanism with Jiangnan University, with the aim to train talents in IC, biomedicine, AI and the digital industry.
