The 18th China Communication Integrated Circuit Technology Application Seminar and Wuxi Integrated Circuit Innovation Summit were held in Wuxi National Hi-tech District on Sept 24.

A signing ceremony for agreements on Wuxi's integrated circuit (IC) design and industrial investment fund, as well as the launch of a platform for Wuxi's national entrepreneurship and innovation base, were held during the event.

Special sessions also covered 5G, artificial intelligence technology (AIoT) and China's chip industry, as well as new infrastructure and chip application, during which technology and market trends – against the background of 5G, AIoT and new infrastructure – and the latest innovation achievements of China's chip industry were presented.

Wuxi is known as the birthplace of China's microelectronics industry. WND, the highland of IC industry development in Wuxi, is home to the National Integrated Circuit Design (Wuxi) Industrialization Base, the National High-tech Industrial Base of Microelectronics, and the National Sensor Network Innovation Demonstration Zone.

By the end of 2019, over 250 IC enterprises were developing in WND with over 60,000 employees. Its total sales revenue reached 86 billion yuan ($12.6 billion) in 2019.
