Wuxi-based garment giant Hodo Group will cooperate with China Unicom to build a 5G+ industrial internet platform for the textile and garment industry, according to an agreement signed in Wuxi on Oct 26.

According to the agreement, the two parties plan to jointly develop technical standards for the 5G industrial internet, improve the management capabilities of industrial-based products and equipment connections and security services, and carry out technical research on the integration of the industries.

The two sides will also build a 5G+ textile and apparel industrial internet smart factory to digitally manage workshops and on-site workers.

In recent years, Hodo Group has been working to develop full-process intelligent solutions for the apparel industry from low-end to high-end. The company has also created the first domestic textile and apparel industry internet platform.

"This marks another round of strategic cooperation between the two sides, after eight years of cooperation," said an official from Hodo Group. He added that with the 5G license and R&D strength of China Unicom, the company will likely make more breakthroughs related to personalized customization, intelligent production, networked collaboration, and digital transformation.

According to China Unicom, cutting-edge technologies such as cloud networking, a visual dispatch center, big data, cloud computing, edge computing, internet of things, and artificial intelligence will be widely applied across the 5G clothing intelligent manufacturing platform. The platform is expected to promote intelligent manufacturing in the textile industry.
