Huawei's OceanConnect IoT platform, China Unicom's NB-IoT/eMTC commercial service platform and CARM's Mbed IoT platform—all gold award winners—were recognized for helping more enterprises to get involved in industrial internet and smart city programs.

Other standout projects included bike-share company Mobike's revolutionary bike-share management system, an IoT platform for pig farmers developed by Beijing Nxin Internet Technology, and a smart agricultural drone created by Wuxi Hanhe Aviation Technology.

According to Cao Guoxing, head of public relations at Mobike, his company has gained an advantage over its rivals by using GPS data from its bikes to allow its app users to track exactly where its shared bikes are located.

To keep itself ahead of the pack in China's ferociously competitive bike-share market, Mobike is now working with tech giants including Ericsson and Huawei to test NB-IoT on their bikes.
